Introduction As homeotherms, humans have the ability to control thermoregulatory mechanisms: physiological processes that are critical to maintaining core temperature within a very narrow limit. Although peripheral temperature fluctuates regularly & often largely in response to ambient temperature, core temperature must be maintained within a tight window in order for the human body to function properly. Throughout the course of circadian rhythm, the body’s core temperature can fluctuate by up to 0.5C. Only through exercise, illness, & external heat stress will the body stray outside its normal core temperature range of 36.1C-37.8C (Weller, 2005). Mechanisms that maintain normothermic core body conditions consist of processes that either dissipate…

The one size fits it all clothing saying is also being applied to our children’s education. In Freemont High School by Jonathan Kozol, students are having trouble with school instead of enjoying it like most children should be enjoying their high school. Students are having obstacles to continuing their education by complaining that there is no air conditioning in classes, not enough courses, restrooms being closed, substitute teachers, and the library being occupied. In the passage “some of the classrooms ‘do not have air conditioning,’ so that the students ‘become red-faced and unable to concentrate’ during the extreme heat of summer’’…

Australia day commemorates the anniversary of the arrival of the first fleet on the 26th of January 1788. To some, it means the beginning of the dispossession of aborigines and the lost of their culture, but to others that was the birth of a great nation. This time of the year sparks many debates on whether Australia day should be celebrated or not. Chris Berg contends that the emergence of Australia as a great and powerful nation cannot be pinpointed to a certain date, nor is the 26th of January necessarily a date to rightfully celebrate on in his article ‘there is much to celebrate on Australia day’, in which he adopts an evaluative tone. Alternatively, in her article ‘changing the date won’t fix Australia day’, Celeste Liddle argues rationally…

If school is all year round there will be drastic changes in the american lifestyle. For example school being all year round would be a problem for children because year round school will not give students enough family time. This is the case because sometimes parents like to take a vacation, or a break once in awhile. Therefore the government should let schools have a break during the school year so that children can have time to spend with family and friends. There are many more problems such as parents would have to make scheduling adjustments, and year round school won’t give students enough time to spend with family and friends, and year round school would cost more money.…

People today would like to have shortened school days. I would like to say that I agree with some of those statements.
