Just Friends: Slapstick, Juvenile, And Benign Violation Theory

Comdey, a theme that can be seen as something that is no laughing matter. As we all know comedy can come down to what kind of person you are. Are you someone who thinks only knock knock jokes or funny or are you a person that finds jokes about the holocaust are the only jokes worthwhile. The film that we will be looking at that can fit different kinds of jokes and show that you can have different kinds of humor in any kind of film and still be able to laugh at it is call Just Friends. These different kinds of jokes that we will be looking are Slapstick, Juvenile, and Benign Violation Theory and how they made the movie Just Friends funny to different kinds of people.

Half-way in the movie there is a scene in which the main character goes on a date with the main love interest by going skating. Because the main character has the wrong pair of skates he is unable to move around as well as he can normally do since he is a hockey star for his hockey team. This leads to him falling over alot and running into things causing him to get injured. Most people would find this funny because seeing someone get hurt in different ways could make someone laugh since it’s not them getting hurt.

Next set of humor we will be looking at are Juvenile jokes. Lots of people turn to a good sex or fart joke once in awhile when they want humor that would get a quick laugh out of someone. The movie Just Friends does this type of humor by using many sex joke throughout the movie. This is done by having the character Samantha a singer that the main character Chris has to look after. Samantha many times in the movie uses her body to tease the main character or his brother Dusty. When Dusty has to watch after Samantha she asks how many times he gets off to the poster and he responses with a high amount of time. This shows the perverted side of
