Kailey (2005) explains his/her struggle as a transgender individual who felt guilty for not following the gender rules. Instead, Kailey (2005) presents the beauty of being a transsexual person and the opportunity they have in America to change not only their appearance but also their own future. According to Kailey (2005) change in many cultures is perceived as dangerous and unacceptable, for transsexual individuals, change is what describes their opportunity to accomplish their dreams and to succeed in society. Even though, American culture is becoming more aware and is being exposed to different gender expression, sexuality, roles and expectations compared to other cultures, change is needed at an institutional level. There is no explanation why transsexual individuals, men, women, gay, lesbians should be employed differently or have to choose between binary categorized bathrooms to meet biological needs. There is a need for our society to open their minds to new perspectives that are based on the beliefs that each individual in the world should be treated equal as a human
