It almost sounded like construction-workers hammering an a piece of wood.. I quickly swallowed the bug again so nobody would see it. At that point I knew that I was on my own. Nobody could help me now and it was too late for me to turn around and go back. There was now way any of the people working there would let me out, even if I told them the truth. They would probably just think I made everything up and that this is just an attempt to get inside their heads and trick them into letting a dangerous criminal go. They started knocking on the door to my room, telling me to wake up. I went out of bed and walked over to the concrete door. It was made so that nobody could escape, unless the guards wanted them too. They opened a small part of the door so they could put on some handcuffs, before they opened the rest of the door. Two men were standing there together with a woman. One of the guys told me that they had to put fetters on my feet, while the other one bent down to fasten them. When they were done with that they guided me to a car sent from the Correctional transportation …show more content…
I did not want to think too much about it earlier, but since the time for me to arrive was getting closer, it was almost impossible. My head was repeating the rules and the plan over and over, trying to make sure everything was going to go smoothly and so I do not do anything stupid. The faster I could get information, the faster we could find the answers on our many questions. How could he continue his vicious plan, when he was locked up in a maximum security psychiatric facility? Was it even him doing everything on the outside? No one knew, and I had to find out. Stepping out of the car at Løwenska hospital I had a felling of anxiety. I had to tell myself “Don't get scared, you do have controll”. Two armed men came and started walking me inside, my stomach started hurting and I tried to stop. They would not let me. I tried again, but they just kept dragging me inside. It was time for a new body search, this time it was not as bad as the last time. Even though it was the same procedure, it felt easier to take of the clothes. I knew what they had to do, and as long as I did what they told me, it would go quick and easy. They removed the fetters from my feet and guided me to the room I had been assigned. I knew this was it. He could not get away. I would not let him. I would do what ever I needed to do to save that girl. At this moment I realized how much power I actually had and that I could get to the bottom of

The Stanford Prison Experiment was a proposed two-week experiment that turned into a six day nightmare. “The original intent was to study whether the behavior of prisoners and guards was dispositional or situational” (McLeod, 2008). However, what they got out of the experiment was a “situation in which prisoners were withdrawing and behaving in pathological ways” and where some of the guards “were behaving sadistically” (Zimbardo). The Stanford Prison Experiment is one of the most controversial studies ever conducted in the “history of social psychology” (Konnikova, 2015). The results of this experiment show the truth of how absolute power corrupts absolutely, why good people do bad things, and how it can be applied to real life situations (Dalberg-Acton).…

For most people if you approach them and ask them if they would intentionally harm someone they would respond with the logical response which would be no, of course not. The majority of college students would also respond the exact same way, well what if you actually put it to the test and isolate them in a group with others and are told not to cause any physical and or mental health to the individuals. Would they obey these orders? Or would they see how far they can take things before they are caught or told not to? With Zimbardo’s Stanford experiment we can see first-hand how a group of men with said power behave.…

Let me first begin by telling you how I ended up finally being admitted to my agency. It was a long process of searching and talking to people whom I hadn’t met before. At the end, I am glad I got into this agency because I did learn several things, and the staff was always willing to answer our questions. It made me want to get up during the morning to go and experience what was happening inside Cameron County Jail. Each day people would come and go to court or would be brought to the booking process.…

Let's flash back about, oh, 20 years. I was new to the Texas Panhandle, seeking to learn the ropes about the community where I had just moved. I got a call one day from the then-assistant warden of the William P. Clements Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The prison official, Rick Hudson, invited me to tour the maximum-security lockup in northeast Amarillo.…

So continuing with the jail experience I was sentenced to 30 days in jail and you could visualize the way I felt going from being released after 1 to 3 days and now being sentenced to 30 days in jail. So after being sentenced and spending hours in the courthouse I was sent to downtown Los Angeles which is considered county jail. As I first arrived it was similar to all the other experiences we were checked by officers which included eradicating our clothing for the purpose of making sure nothing was brought into the jail. After some other normal procedures which included some paper work I was eventually housed in a cell which was really a small room with 2 beds. To bring you back to my thinking first I was dismissed, arrested form church…

If I was a guard, I believe that I would have become a guard who is oppressive, but not to the point of physically injuring the inmate. I believe that I would adopt a behavior of oppressing the inmates because I would be fearful that the inmates would feel power in numbers against me without my constant threats, but I would recognize that my role as a guard is not real, thus I would not physically abuse the inmates. However, I am unsure whether if my idealistic morals will still remain intact once I actually engage in the experiment. Like in the actual experiment, I cannot guarantee if the inmates will actually be submissive under my rule or if the inmates will plan a rebellious uprising.…

If I was forced to become a type of guard I would have chosen one that was on call all day. This is because I don’t think I could handle the 8-hour shifts of shouting and taking part In dehumanizing the inmates on a constant basis. I think that I would have lacked the willpower to supervise these prisoners around the clock. In addition, I don’t know the full job description of what these guards actually do like the specifics are critical to me. I don’t think I can even confirm this would be the choice I pick because as the job would go on I’ll become more experienced on what I have to do.…

Corrections The last division I was assigned to is Bibb County Law Enforcement Center (L.E.C.), which is the local jail located downtown Macon. Before being exposed to the environment, I have heard so many bad stories about working in the prison system. It made me not want to land a job opportunity with the correctional systems for a starter position. My experience with the jail was a pleasant experience, especially since we were allowed to have our cellphones inside of the prison.…

The clerk ran out to the police and I was picked up off the floor. My body was limp, and my shoes slid blood across the shitty floor of the corner store. The Officers cuffed me, hauled me out of the store, sat me down outside in the cold, and called for backup. I sat there for twenty minutes, staring in the opposite direction of the corner store, towards a park and an apartment block. Another four squad cars pulled up into the small parking lot, each of them was holding two or so officers, Four carried me off the ground into one of the cars, the others went into the store.…

In all cases I do believe that outsiders should be allowed to tour prison and jails to mostly analyze for themselves to see if touring an environment such as an incarcerated facility is a good idea. I understand that many scholars do not agree that people should tour due to the danger and other circumstances of the jails and prison but I do feel it would give those a better understanding on how staff and inmates perform in such as hostile setting. Without a doubt, your always gone hear bad things about being locked up but in reality going to jail is not supposed to be fun. Prison is a facility that is meant for criminals who commit a crime and have their freedom taken away under the authority as a form of a punishment. Being incarcerated does also mean a bad thing because many people grow inside the facility as well and some just do not.…
