Jurassic Park Monologue

I definitely was not prepared for black widows. Black widows were only something I had heard about through TV. In my mind, I would only come across these arachnids in Australia or some other deadly place. I shuffled away from the trees and closer to the vehicle. No way would I die in North Carolina because of a little spider. Soon, people started to come out of the house to greet us. They trickled slowly toward us. Hello Nosleep family. I'm writing to you tonight because I've experienced something grim in the last few days. This is the first time I've had access to anything connected to the internet since shortly after the "incident" began. I've been running on about four hours of fearful "rest" since about five days ago, so please forgive me if my recalling is scattered. I live in a small city of about 15,000 people.…

"Monster is a relative word; to a canary, a cat is a monster. So far we humans were used to being cats." After the first three movies in the series, you might think that they would have learnt of their incapacity to contain a dinosaur – precisely the reason why Jurassic Park was shut down at the end of the third movie. Twenty-two years later, the park has been reopened, renamed and revamped. The theme park, dubbed Jurassic World, is now owned by Simon Masrani (Irrfan Khan) who has taken Hammond's dream of a dinosaur amusement park to a whole new level.…

Three Years Ago "Mr. Atkinson," Mr. Anderson shouted. My eyes tore from Brandon's and to the teacher. "Don't do that to Mr. Davis. Third, chaos begins to echo throughout the Park, and it's not only when Dr. Malcolm discusses the chaos theory, the entire book is based on the chaos theory. “In Malcolm's view, complex systems have an underlying order, and simple systems can produce complex behavior” (Shmoop). Jurassic Park fails because John Hammond and his team fail to account for the chaos inherited in their enterprise, which they imagine as a simple system designed to rake in the bucks. John Hammond believes Jurassic Park is simple and therefore controllable, but Malcolm argues that "unpredictability is built into our daily lives" and so the "dream of total control" promised by science must die (Crichton 206). That doesn't mean that science can't predict or control…

Random grins broke from my mouth as I saw my newly opened gift sitting on the counter. I was ecstatic about the gift my parents just gave to me; my own box of assorted polymer clays, something that I had wanted for years. After completing a bit of online research, I hastily jumped in to make a miniature penguin out of the polymer clays. Cutting off bits and pieces of various colored clay, I gradually obtained the ideal amounts to start molding the figure. Beginning with the beak, body, and head seemed like the most difficult parts at first.…

Jurassic Park takes place in the late 1980’s, a time where genetic research is at it’s high point. Michael Crichton does a great job of incorporating actual historical facts and dates into this time where genetic impossibilities have become a reality. A time where we have the technology and the knowledge to do almost anything we wanted to do, but we cannot abuse this power. Have you ever heard the phrase “with great power comes great responsibility”? Well Michael Crichton that same moral compass in this book, but instead of having great power, we have a vast knowledge that we have to use in moderation.…

The mood of Jurassic park is edge-of-your-seat, suspenseful, and exciting, from the very beginning. As readers we have been learned that good things never happen on in the midst of a storm, when thunder crashes and lighting fills the sky. And as expected a construction worker dies in the first pages during such a storm, and his death is cloaked in mystery and lies. Soon afterward, a child is bitten by an unidentifiable “lizard”. The author’s choice of words and phrases creates a tone of apprehension and dread, making these unlikely events seem all the more unusual.…
