In the movie, Jurassic Park, dinosaurs that were extinct millions of years ago were brought back to life. Imagine if our world was like the world in the movie Jurassic Park, where de extinction is reality. Although we do not have the ability to bring the ancient dinosaurs back, we can bring back recently extinct species using their preserved and complete DNA. While some may want to bring extinct animals back, they do not acknowledge what could go wrong, like the catastrophe that occurred in the movie, Jurassic Park. Although de extinction would be cool to see, we should not bring extinct animals back to life as it is difficult and dangerous, which can lead to major losses that can affect us and our …show more content…
For example, there are undiscovered animals out there that we could be learning about, and instead, we want to bring the old ones back instead of enjoying and caring for the creatures that are still alive and maybe undiscovered. Another issue more important than de extinction is the endangered species. It is our responsibility to help the ones suffering now instead of ignoring them and paying attention to the ones already gone. It is better to invest millions of dollars to protect the animals that are still alive. Another issue more important than de extinction is the world’s poverty. The money funded for de extinction research would be useful to the 3 billion plus people who earn less than $2.50 a day, and living in extreme poverty (dosomething.org). According to UNICEF, 22,000 children die each day due to poverty. Imagine how much of an impact the money could have done to saving more deaths from occurring, but instead, that money is funded to de extinction research. Basically, we are letting things die like we did to animals that are now extinct. Many questions, such as ‘what if we bring one creature back’ is another question to consider, because if only one creature is brought back, it will not have a partner to mate with, and the species would just go extinct again. Many might want to help out the extinct creatures and see it as a cool Jurassic Park reality, but they are gone and should stay gone. That is how life goes; creatures live and then go extinct eventually, completing the circle of life. Bringing extinct creatures back will go through the same thing; live and go extinct. Spending a lot of time, research, and money for something that can go wrong in the blink of an eye, is not worth it, especially because it will go extinct again and all that work will do nothing for the creature in the end. We should not tamper with the past as it perilous and can affect our entire planet and everything in it. In Jurassic Park, all the animals escaped and created chaos. Who knows, cloning could create a completely weird organism that could be loose in the cities, like the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. Would the world want a new species arriving in cities, darkening the skies, and creating a havoc in our precious, unbroken
