In Wheatly's poem “On Being Brought from Africa to America”, Hammons addresses to Wheatly that how he was brought over from a land such as what Wheatly described and wrote in lines 13-16 (91), he mentions how God's tender mercies brought her over to America through the grim ocean waters and he states that everything that she has to share is worth all the gold in Spain. Basically he is saying that although she had to go through wile on her way, what she brought to America and all of her wisdom was greatly appreciated.
Hammon and Wheatly had different circumstances but very little different ways as to show in their poetic work. Hammon admired Wheatly, her works and journey, but thought very differently in her approach that she took in her Christian stand point. They both had obvious religious vocabulary and tones that is seen in poems. Also both of these authors are writing about religious experiences and being brought from Africa however, there approach is obviously different.
