Tv adverts are advertising snacks such as sweets, biscuits, crisps and sugary drinks non-stop and as each day goes by it is becoming increasingly unlikely that you will come across a food advert which is promoting healthy eating. Children spend countless hours in front of a tv or on the internet, so companies are taking advantage of this by advertising food as they know they are more likely to remember and try foods that they have seen advertised e.G if a fast food restaurant comes up with an advert which is highlighting how extremely delicious it is, of course, children will want to eat it, because they do not understand and have not come to realise that the company is trying to persuade them just so they can make even more …show more content…
Not all children have parents to tell them what to eat and what not to. It may be the parents who are also targeted by junk food advertisements. Also, not many schools are good at promoting healthy eating as they sell cake and greasy pizza in school cafeterias.
In a world where junk-food restaurants (such as McDonald's ) are popping up everywhere. Where there are huge billboard adverts for candy, energy drinks, fizzy drinks, fast food ( etc.). Where food adverts are on shop windows, websites, television, magazines and advertisements are even posted through your door, how is it possible to avoid the sight of any junk-food adverts? Children are constantly being bombarded with persuasive advertising which is made to manipulate. Not only is this a terrible thing to be doing, it is also creating a nation of obese children.
Childhood obesity is starting to become a huge issue and it needs to be addressed. Actions have to be taken. Should companies not be treating customers with respect instead of using them for huge amounts of money? Is money more important than a child's health and
