The Relationship with Oneself.
Junior has a better understanding of everything that has happened or is happening when he is on the reservation. He has been there his whole life so he knows how it will influence him. Sometimes those influences are bad. For example he is apart of “The Black Eye of the Month Club”. If a teenager is involved in something like this then they will not be happy with what they are dealing with. He knows that he is pure Indian, but he also knows that he can better himself by leaving and seeking for better opportunities in life. Their relationship has grown to the point that no matter what comes across their path they can always find a way to overcome that situation. Before Junior went to Reardon, Rowdy was always sticking up for him when people decided to pick on him. A prime example of this would have been when the two Andruss brothers were picking on junior and rowdy went and cut their braids off. That shows that Rowdy is truly willing to do anything for Junior.
Rowdy will also do anything to Junior despite how good of friends they truly are. “I was the kind of idiot that got punched hard in the face by his best friend”. The quote took place after Junior told Rowdy he was transferring schools. That was the only thing that put a halt on their friendship. Junior was only trying to better himself for his future, but rowdy took it as junior leaving his own kind behind in the dust. Even though they did not get along for a long time, their friendship brought them back together in the end. True friends always figure out how to get over a bump in the road. After all the time the two spent apart for each other when they played basketball at the end of the book and Junior said, “We didn’t keep score” I had a warm feeling in my heart knowing they would be friends again for a long

Gordy has had the most valuable impact on Junior’s identity because it was Gordy who made Junior realize that he belongs in many myriad places, not just the tribe he hails from. For example, through Gordy, Junior comes to the realization that “ [he and Gordy] have a tribe of two" (Alexie 132). Gordy had planted the idea in Junior’s head that he was part of an innumerable, myriad collection of “tribes.” This proved to Junior that no matter how weird or different he is, he will always belong somewhere, and can take pride in knowing that he belongs. In addition to this, with Junior mentioning to Gordy how he believes that it is necessary to become white to be white, Gordy responds by saying “If that were true, then wouldn't all white people be…

The movie “Smoke Signals” and the novel “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian” have some similarities and contrasts. The movie is about two indian boys named Victor and Thomas who go on an adventure to retrieve Victor's’ father's’ ashes. In the novel Junior, the main character struggles to find his place in society, he ends up going to a white kids school instead of the indian reservation school. Another thing to notice is that Victor and Thomas were around the age of 18 maybe 19 years old, Junior on the other hand was about 14 or 15 years old so a bit of an age difference. Both the movie and the novel have one thing in common that would only be the fact that both feature native american characters.…

1 Significance of title/cover art • “Our white dentist believed that Indians only felt half as much pain as white people did” (2) • “And then you start believing that you’re stupid and ugly because you’re Indian. And because you’re Indian you start believing you’re destined to be poor. It’s an ugly circle” (13) The key words in the title that carry the most significance are the words “Absolutely True”, which promises that the narrator is reliable, and that he had experienced everything he says he did (which adds to both the mood and the tone of the novel). The other key word is “Part-Time”, which emphasizes the duality that Junior feels, as being both an Indian and an American, depending on whose company he’s in; such as the white dentist, versus Rowdy. This represents both an inner struggle, and a struggle between the white power structure and him.…

Peer Relationships There is a very strong sense of closeness and support within the teams at MaritzCX, which is demonstrated by the use of our formal recognition system (issuing CX Elite Buttons to each other) as well as through informal means (birthday cards, notes, funny emails). Beyond that, our AUTO group is responsible for organizing events and activities for the entire Maumee office to participate in that will include the entire staff of the office. These two methods combined convey a clear message to the employees that closeness is encouraged, not only while working on projects together, but also general comradery with the whole office. This goes back to the message about becoming one “CX Tribe” that was portrayed when the company was formed, and is still being lived out through the formal actions the company takes.…
