In cheerleading I have helped the younger cheerleaders by teaching them dance , stunts and also remembering and perfecting their choreography.…
As an athlete, I began my journey in sports full of dedication, fire, and hopeful anticipation of what I could do on the football field and on the basketball court. Much of my life has been devoted to extracurricular activities such as sports and the comelec, which taught me hard lessons in ethics and values that have made me who I am today. I not only represented my school varsity, but also sports clubs outside of school, which led me to compete in several local and international tournaments. As well as my passion for sports, I grew into my passion for service; service for others and for my school, partaking in clubs and community service activities, each endeavor playing a role in the development of my abilities and expansion of my potential…
During practice we worked in a group with the individuals and the bond that was developed helped the athletes in opening up and becoming comfortable around the coach, volunteers, and other family members. Each athlete was given a chance to call out the cheer to start and was encouraged to be loud during the duration of the cheer. Positive reinforcement was used with smiles, good vibes, and kind words which was a reflection on how the athletes performed in practice and at…
Bob Marley once said, “Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds.” In today’s society teenagers are expected to succeed and excel throughout their high school journey with the support of their parents, In order to gain a successful future. However, when fate decides to turn its back on you and pose challenging obstacles the opposite occurs, unless you decide to do something in order to turn it around. After moving to the United States at the age of six, and having to learn a completely new language, I realized of how capable I was as an individual.…

As a sophomore, I had to opportunity to get lots of playing time in varsity games and being a young player on the team, getting big playing time, I felt I had to take the leadership role in my sophomore class. Now that I am a senior on the team, I feel more of that weight on my shoulders. Being on the court most of the time, I feel it’s part of my duty, on and off the court, to be a leader for the girls. Keeping them serious in practice to just being someone they look up to when they need guidance, I feel those situations is what really taught me the leadership qualities. I’ve also inherited the leadership quality my senior year when I was chosen to be the student section leader.…

I believe my involvement on the field and class will help me become a great National Honor Society leader in the future. I exemplify character in my life by my future career choices and expectations I have for myself.…
Many times in our lives we have the choice to be a leader or a follower. One of the many times that I have chosen a leadership role is when I was on my competitive cheerleading team. During one of our first competitions half of the team forgot our routine and the stunts all fell. While everyone stood there in silence I started saying the words and going through the stunts and routine and everyone followed my lead and we pushed through the embarrassment. I decided to take this leadership role because I knew that everyone was too afraid to be the only one to say the words in fear that no one else would say them too, so I knew that if I put my dignity aside for a moment our team still had a chance to shine and get a good score on our round.…

This essay intends to analyse the 1999 film ‘ But I’m a Cheerleader’. The film explores many different themes with a focus on sexuality, gender and family. It makes use of exaggerated stereotypes, specific costuming styles and set design in order to highlight and emphasise certain aspects of characters and the issues discussed within then film. The story follows Megan who was unwillingly sent to an almost comedic version of a Conversion Therapy camp by her parents; it is from here that the meat of these themes can be analysed from within the film.…
My mother always told me, "Always be leader, never a follower", that is what I did. Growing up in school, teachers encouraged group work and I always took charge. That is where my leadership qualities began. Around age eight, I joined cheer because the sport requires leaders. Cheerleaders lead the crowd, lead the team, and overall, we lead the culture of spirit.…
Throughout my life, I have always been the shy one, but as I grew up I started to blossom into a whole new person. Since I have been a figure skater, it has open many doors for me when becoming a leader. Within a year of coaching, I was asked to coach the Tot Synchronized Team (age’s four to nine). The team competed at various local competitions, including a larger event in South Lake Tahoe, where they received first place at every event within their category. In addition to coaching the Tot Synchronized Team, my personal coach requested I assist him with his advanced team.…
