Julius Caesar was born on July 12, 100 BC in Rome as Gaius Julius Caesar. His family was Patrician, the wealthier class that had a say in the government. Rome was going through a time of hardships, the government was slowly crumbling and there was chaos. A harsh leader Gaius Marius took over the government. In fear of his life, Caesar married one of Marius’ men’s daughters. He was saved and became wealthy. All was well until Marius’s archnemesis, Sulla, threatened Caesar’s fortune. In response, he fled to join the army. This military experience, gave him the thirst for more power. After Sulla’s death in 78AD, Caesar entered Rome again and became a lawyer to kill Sulla’s men.
