In Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar Caesar himself is not the main character of the play. Caesar is introduced to us then taken away fairly quickly. Many Romans believed that Caesars power and support was causing him to become corrupt. Flavius expresses that “these growing feathers plucked from Caesars wing will make him fly at an ordinary pitch.” (1.1.72-73). Although Caesar is dead for the majority of the play he still has an extensive impact on the events that follow his downfall. His actions towards the Romans were brought forth again through the ruling of Mark Antony when himself, Octavius, and Lepidus took over Rome. His speeches during his life changed the views, and brought people to stand up on the topic of equality. Much like the impacts Caesar on Rome Martin Luther King Junior has left an impact on today’s leaders who still fight for equality. Diverse groups of people were, and still are inspired by Dr. King’s methods of teaching. Robert F. Kennedy said “We can move in that direction as a country, in greater polarization - black people amongst blacks, and white amongst whites, filled with hatred toward one another. Or we can make an effort, as Martin Luther King did.”(Kennedy) Unlike Caesar, Dr. King left a good impact on the society he left behind him after his death. In Rome Caesar built up walls, Timothy Tyson believes that ““The self-congratulatory popular account insists that Dr. King called on the nation to fully accept its own creed, and the walls came a-tumbling down.”(Tyson).
