Truthfully power and powerlessness both corrupt, but in my eyes it’s the desire for power that corrupts more, as it is what corrupts the powerless in the beginning. Julius Caesar and Brutus are excellent examples of the powerful and powerless intertwining. Caesar, a king among kings, possessing a very strong and experienced army, often seen as power crazed. His ravenous hunger for more land and more control is a direct catalyst to his demise. Brutus, a once close friend to Caesar became jealous and betrayed Caesar, literally stabbing him in the back. Brutus lacked the power Caesar possessed. It corrupted his mind, and any love he had for his friend went down the drain. However, if it wasn’t for the power that had corrupted his

We hear stories of them from the very beginning. Books and TV shows make great money creating tales of those who’ve become corrupt, only to have an honest hero come and save the day. Often times that person takes the place of the villain, and then the story end. What happens after though? We can only assume because of their pure heart and determined willpower that our hero continued down their righteous path. Only with guidance though can they remain honest. A strong and benevolent conscience by their side to control the power together, whether that be the Vice President, a talking cricket, or loved one, dispersing the weight evens everything

I think power does corrupt. Have you ever felt like someone is controlling your life. So you couldn't take charge of anything that goes on in your own life, and nothing can be done about it. At a glance, the play Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, portrays power changing people into autocratic leaders. But, if one ventured a closer look at the motives and the background of some of the main characters, the evidence simply does not support this theory. Corruption has little to no relation to power, as displayed by the motives of Marcus Brutus, Cassius, and Julius Caesar himself. Marcus Brutus is referred to as “The noblest Roman of them all” because his higher status never wavers his decisions for his country. Cassius was one of the many Senators of Rome from whom Caesar stole power, but seems to be the only one taking initiative to retrieve it.…
