Julius Caesar Persuasive Essay

Herding sheep has been an art for thousands years and over time a person can train one of his dogs to do this. In the Tragedy of Julius Caesar written by William Shakespeare has used this art and used the people as a herd of sheep, being swayed one side to another. The play takes place in Ancient Rome when Julius Caesar came to power by murdering one of his adversaries Pompey. During this time the people were in rejoice that Julius had killed Pompey, but some were in discouraged about the fact that people have change so easily. Further on in the play a group of conspirators who want to kill Caesar decided that even though Julius is not a tyrant now, but in time he will become a corrupt tyrant. They both had a vigorous crowd and convince them to their side. Even though Brutus had to face the crowd first who wanted his head. He was able to calm them down and convince them Caesar was a tyrant. But, Anthony had to worry about the conspirators killing him if he talks bad about them, defend a Caesar’s corpse, and convince the crowd to go against conspirators. This was a lot of things Mark had to defend against. In addition to defending a Caesar’s dead body Antony had to go back in the past to things he has done for the people, and he is not even defending himself. Not alone that Antony has to worry about the conspirators, he even sent a servant to the scene of murder to make sure he was not a target on the group of conspirators list. Consequently, leading to Antony fearing for his life while giving his speech. Then after he gave his speech he was able not only calm the crowd, but to convince them to go against the conspirators and want kill them. Overall while Brutus’s speech was exceptional and was able to calm the crowd and change their minds into thinking Caesar was a tyrant.
