A Summary of The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare Julius Caesar was a great man in the eyes of the roman people. The play opens when Caesar has just returned from a great battle. Caesar is walking around the streets of Rome high off of the fame and power he has gained. The common people of Rome praise Caesar as if he was a god. This puts an uneasy feeling to those who seek power as well. As Caesar is walking around basking in his victory against Pompey a psychic tell Caesar to “beware the ides of March”. Brutus and Cassius are now talking about the future of Rome. Brutus has not been acting himself lately. This is due to Brutus’ doubt in his leader Caesar. Many in the play were greedy for power and caused them to make drastic decisions to get git. Brutus, Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, and etc. for some reason or another the men desired or thrived off of power. Whether by manipulation or brute force power was always something someone was trying to achieve. Julius Caesar already had power over the people of rome. This power added to ego and built up a sense of immortality. This obviously wasn't the case since he was brought down by the hands of his conspirators. One of his conspirators by the name of brutus was also power hungry. He may have originally had good intentions, but as things spiraled he became more deceitful and flawed. The idea of power controlled him and this is what began to control his actions. Also, someone who fought because of the powerful figure julius caesar was mark antony . He was successfully manipulative and intelligent throughout the play. He was one of the only ones that didn't end up crahing and burnign do to greed and power. This moral shows you the danger that power can bring. Hopefully the reader understands this and understands ther more to
