Julius Caesar Noble Analysis

Marcus Brutus in the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, is noble. According to the Oxford Dictionary, noble, by definition, is having or showing fine personal qualities or high moral principles and ideals. Brutus conveys this through his loyalty to Rome, respect for the people around him, and by staying true to himself and the people around him. To start off, with the reasons why Brutus is noble, is his loyalty to Rome. A example of this is that he would only join Antony and the other conspirators only if the people of Rome had a problem with Caesar taking power. Although he would only plot against his friend, Caesar, for the good of Rome. This shows great nobility from Brutus because Brutus has a strong loyalty to the people of Rome. Another reason that shows Brutus being noble is how he shows his respect to the people around him. Firstly, is when Brutus says that he will explain his behavior as of the late, to his wife Portia, to show that he trusts Portia? This conveys that Brutus has respect for his wife. He believes that a wife is more than just a material object to convey a man’s power. He may have someone hold his sword for him but that is only because in the time period of the Roman Empire, their swords are very long. Brutus did not have Strato stab him, but had him hold the sword as Brutus pushed the sword into himself. To put it more simply, Brutus didn’t have Strato be the one to kill him because that would be making Strato do his dirty work. That in Brutus’s eyes is seen as not being noble. Another reason to why Brutus does this because he didn’t want his honor to be ruined by being paraded around the city as a war slave. Through his actions towards himself to uphold his honor he demonstrates his
