A crime is an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and is punished by law. In the play, “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar,” it started out with the powerful Julius Caesar. Though his world turned upside down by the seven manipulative conspirators. The conspirators killed Caesar fatally, each one stabbing Julius separately. In the end the conspirators each had a dreadful punishment with their conscience. In the play, “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar,” by William Shakespeare, the play is based on crime and punishment. The crime and punishment in the play was a majority given to Caesar, the conspirators, and the battle. The crime and punishment that first takes place in the play is Caesar defeating the Roman ruler, Pompey. Julius Caesar defeats Pompey, and the majority of the Romans love his presence. Well everybody except a selective group that does not like him at all, and is mad that Caesar is coming back, “ You blocks, you stones, you worse than senseless things!,” (I.I.35). At this time everyone is cheering that Caesar is coming back except Marullus, he is the person who said the quote, and he can not believe that the Roman people are betraying Pompey. The crime and punishment that takes place is concerning Caesar, conspirators, and the battle. The crime that first starts is Caesar killing Pompey. Then the conspirators go after Caesar and kill him which is Caesar’s punishment.
