It is commonly debated whether Brutus is a patriot or a betrayer. After analyzing his dialogue, his actions, and his interactions with those around him, I fully support the notion that Brutus is a patriot, and not a betrayer. “What villain touch'd his body, that did stab, and not for justice?” Brutus states in Act 4, proving that he is aware that Caesar’s assassination was committed as some sort of act of justice. Some may attempt to counter my argument, and state that Brutus is a betrayer, and not a patriot, but I firmly believe that the intensity of his actions against Caesar only proves that he is a patriot because he was willing to sacrifice his relationship with Caesar and kill him for the good of his empire, Rome.…
