Lessons in Love In the play everyone knows the main characters develop in many ways, one way they develop is they mature during the play. During the play both Romeo and Juliet mature, but they mature in different ways they both become more like adults and realize and conquer the tough choices they have to make. Juliet matures from being obedient and relying on everyone else's opinion to a grown woman who will not listen to her father's wishes if they will make her sin. Also if her father's wishes will make her be disloyal to her husband and also to Paris because she doesn’t love him. She doesn’t believe in marrying for money or for an arranged marriage. Romeo matures from thinking he is in love to realizing what love is and making choices that will benefit them and that will be faithful to his wife's wishes like the choice of keeping their marriage a secret.
