Before entering the business communication world Julie Vail had been enrolled in multiple college programs designed to educate her on the skill sets and values necessary to preforming successful in her future occupation. Miss Vail formal education had started within business administration at Humber College where she had completed a Hotel & Restaurant Management program. She had credited this program with helping her develop the fundamental communication skills she had sense then used in her day-to-day working activates. Despite the challenges Miss Vail had overcome within the program she had felt this wasn’t necessarily where her interests lied for a profession. She had stated “Had originally taken a career path to become a hotel department/restaurant manager, but realized that the staff (including myself) were having difficulties dealing with difficult/challenging customers who were negative and complained”. Consequently this had lead Miss Vail into deciding to furthering her education by taking another program at Humber College, this time Human Resources Management. Miss Vail has experienced many opportunities for growth and development in the inspiring field of corporate communications when dealing with the media, employees and publics Links2Care serve. When asked about what opportunities had led her to her current position Miss Vail stated “The completion of both my college diplomas in business management and administration, an international internship program what provided ab in-depth co-op term and the many additional hours on persona development through self-directed learning are what guided me forward throughout my career”. I was surprised to find that not only does Miss Vail credit her post-secondary education towards her many successes but she also continues to improve on herself by taking additionally self-directed learning programs. Clearly Miss Vail, like many individuals in public relations/communications is self-driven and is always looking to improve on her performance.
