Julie Rursch Reflection

Great Essays
TAPTL The purpose of this essay is to take a professor to lunch, to learn, and to reflect about he or she. The professor given to my group was a professor none of us knew, Julie Rursch. We had no background about her and we did not even know what she looked like. She was actually a really nice woman. I felt like my group worked out fine, everyone played their part. I was in charge of the thank you email to Julie Rursch. Jonathan Greazel job was to return the dining card. Ethan Pullman role was pick up the professor. Matt McDermott responsibility was to pick up the card. Jacob Martin duty was the coordinator and conversation leader .
Overall, I like everyone in my group even though I did not really develop a friendship with them. We did

It was actually an awful day to take our professor to lunch. I felt bad for our professor because it was raining so hard. I was the first one to arrive to Caribou Coffee and I was waiting for everyone else to arrive. Jacob was the next one, then Jonathan, Matt, and finally Ethan. There was not really a lot of open seats for everyone to sit, but we found a spot on the booth. As we all met up, I was surprised that everyone made it on time. I was expecting for some people to be late because of the weather. The funny thing was no one knew what Julie Rursch looked like. We had to quickly find a picture of her to identify when she walked …show more content…
I believe the mentor/mentee relationship should be a relationship on trust. If I could not trust my mentor about anything, then I do not think that relationship would be successful. If she were my mentor, I would be okay with it, but I doubt it because I am not going to have any of her classes. My communication responsibilities with whoever my mentor would be focus on school, but also about life and how I could be successful. If I had a close relationship with my mentor, then I would also talked about personal issues. The faculty member should just be open minded to foster this communication because they have to really care about my

Hello everyone, I am Diane Porché; in the Clinical Mental Health course, been in Denver for 45 years; have a daughter who is 35, and a grandson who is nine that keeps my spirit alive. As far my clinical site, Salvation Army is a six month (compulsory live-in) alcohol and drug treatment facility, providing for men and women age 21 to 60. As far as fears, being in a room with a client alone, and assessing the client using the ASI, it's a little overwhelming. Furthermore, how to motivate the client in finding novel ways to manage their feelings, control impulses, work toward concrete goals for recovery; alone with confronting manipulation, teaching a relapse prevention course and maintaining my case load are further concerns.…

Ariyonna Underwood As one ages, one starts to become their own person, figuring things out for oneself and becoming more independent. But as for me, I was a very shy, quiet, and stay-to-myself kind of person. I didn’t like being around a lot of people or just doing nothing. When times got hard I would listen to my music and just be in my own little world. I would bottle up all my emotions and not tell anybody anything.…

    Ruth Ozeki Reflection

It was nice seeing the author of the book we read over this summer and discussed a lot about in class. It was my first time meeting the author of a book that I had read, and it was a cool experience. I enjoyed it because we were able to ask Ruth questions that we had in our mind while reading the book, and we were able to understand the process it took Ruth to complete “A tale for the Time Being”. Some themes that Ruth discussed in the event had to do with the characters she chose, the reason it took so long to complete it, structure, and the ending of the book Ruth Ozeki said that she didn’t have to sit down and think which characters to put in this novel, but rather the voices and the characters themselves came to her. In 2006, she heard the voice of Nao, but she didn’t know anything about her at first.…

Mentorship plays such an important role in all of our lives regardless of vocation and interests. Delving into history we see how many of the renowned innovators, actors, politicians, and business leaders were mentored during some stage of their lives. I can recall the names of a few mentor-mentee relationships I became aware of over time - Plato mentored by Socrates - David Letterman mentored by Peter Lassally - Warren Buffet mentored by Benjamin Graham – Steve Jobs mentored by Robert Friedland - Russell Crowe mentored by Tom Sharpin and Bill Gates mentored by Dr. Ed Roberts. Having participated in mentorship at both ends of the spectrum, I know firsthand about its benefits, which include maturity, focus, diligence, accountability and sustained…

Cedarbrook Middle School, 3rd period, the clock had just struck 10:15 am. My eyes were extremely tired and I couldn't get my mind to focus. I kept staring out the window wondering why the clear blue sky went away and these wet drops called rain began to rapidly fall. As I was gazing upon the rain I heard this faint voice in the distance. “Heather”....”Heather”.....…

Sandra Cisneros has really impressed me. Before I started researching who she was and what kind of work she did, I had no clue she was Mexican-American or that her work reflected who she is, a latina. I’ve heard of other authors writing about their culture and how it affected them growing up,but none were hispanic like Cisneros. She has really caught my attention with her writing. While I read various amounts of excerpts from her writing, I discovered how proud I am to be hispanic and it got me thinking to everything I’ve ever had to face growing up for coming from a hispanic background.…

It was the first day of 8th grade at Nagel Middle School, I was alone and friendless on team 8-1, most of my friends from last year were on different teams. So during lunch I ended up sitting with Jenna Walsh a girl I knew from book club last year, her twin Alex and another girl I had gym with the previous year, Samantha Beinke. Although it was quite sunny outside, the temperature in the cafeteria felt like it was below freezing point. I turned towards Jenna about to voice my opinion on how the school should not have the fans on when the AC was also on, when I noticed 2 girls headed toward our table.…

Over this semester I think one of the most eye opening things we talked about was how women were uneducated but were the primary educators. This is crazy for me to think about, because they were expected to teach the children about everything that was going on. This also shows how much education has evolved since then. I think that it is our responsibility as teachers to the students to teach them about the issues, this can mean using other sources besides the textbook to teach the students. There are certain chunks of our history as a country that is left out in many textbooks, they try to make it seem like they are less terrible that how they really are.…

By critically looking at my mentoring habits I hope to be more accessible to my mentees and to be a better planner of my meetings. This is why karate classes often work because you 'll see the same people over and over again. But, overall, I 'm very anti-classes. If you are paying for something it is usually not the best place to find friends (with the exception of college). Unless the class has the same group of people who meet frequently (like a college Salsa classes), you won 't make them your friends.…
