Low’s early life involved lots of learning of issues faced during her time at an early age. Juliette Low lived between being for and against slavery at the same time; she was introduced to both views of the concept when she was born. “Her father, a Georgia-born Southern slave owner, believed in the secession of the South from the Union, while her Northern-born mother, ……., believed in abolition” (Biography). Because Low got to see and be involved with both sides of slavery beliefs, it helped shape her into accepting all people. Low’s love for helping others and the outdoors developed when she was a child. “As a child Daisy exhibited a love of the outdoors, a propensity for physical activity, and a desire to help others” (“Georgia History”). Sir Robert Baden-Powell inspired Low after a meeting in 1912 when he informed her all about Boy Scouts. “the founder of Boy Scouts, inspired Juliette to establish Girl Scouts that same year” (“Girl Scouts”). Juliette Low knew that her new coming organization would change lives for families all around the world. Low worked extremely hard to gather girls from all around the world to teach them independence in their womanhood. “As founder of the Girl Scouts, Low was truly tireless in her dedication to her young troops.” (Brattain). Low continuously worked hard top build the Girl Scouts organization. Low dedication is what has kept the Girl Scouts living today. Low accepted everyone who joined the Girl Scouts, which is a trait that still lives on in the organization
