In 1975, Percy L. Julian High School emerged as a result of the community's desire to relieve the overcrowding of area high schools. School officials originally referred to Julian as the 103rd and Dan Ryan Site High School. Julian's founding principal, Dr. Edward H. Oliver, changed the school's name to honor the renowned scientist, Percy Lavon Julian, who died in April of 1975. Julian school colors were orange and brown. The most popular part of Julian high school that helped mold me into the person I am today is the north wing of the school. The north wing included the band room, the radio-TV department and the flag room.

When you first enter the north wing all you see is orange and brown. Orange meaning powerful and Brown meaning stability
