Anderson Believes in Assange’s Message
At the 47th annual Earth Day event in Vancouver, Anderson tells Erin Cebula, who is a reporter with the Canadian version of Entertainment Tonight (ET), that she supports Assange because she believes in his message. Anderson says that Assange is attempting to free the world by educating it. She describes him as a kind and gentle person.

16, 2016 the Swedish Court of Appeals denied a request asking the court to drop Assange’s arrest warrant for rape. Since the Swedish statute of limitations on rape is 10 years, as long as Assange remains in asylum until 2020, he can avoid being arrested on the rape charge.
Concerns Related to Extradition
In the event that Assange is extradited to Sweden, he has concerns related to being sent to the United States. If he is sent to the U.S., he could be put on trial for publishing classified military documents and video footage from both the Afghanistan, and Iraq wars. Assange fears that if he is extradited to the U.S., he could be given the death penalty.
Despite his concerns of extradition to the U.S., on March 7, 2017, Assange published classified documents outlining how the C.I.A. allegedly uses smartphones and televisions as a means to spy on people. According to the New York Times, this action has infuriated C.I.A. officials who have now put even more pressure on the Justice Department to prosecute Assange.
