Then, Child, Bertholle, and Beck decided to teach American women how to cook French meals in Child`s kitchen (while she was still in France.)
Since that time, Child also wrote other cookbooks, such as: The Way to Cook, From Julia Child's Kitchen, Julia's Casual Dinners, Julia`s Menus for Special Occasions, Julia Child and Company, and 22 other books. Her last book was My Life In France, which was published two years after her death.
In, 1963, Child`s first show aired. It all started with an interview, where Child was promoting cooking on a show called “I've Been Reading”. The same day, multiple people wrote the TV station, wanted to see more of Julia and her cooking. So a few months later, Julia Child`s first episode of The French Chef aired. In 1966, Julia earned her first Emmy award. In 1967, Julia was awarded with L'Ordre du Mérite Agricole (it is an award for agriculture) . Only 30,000 of those awards were made. In 1970, Julia had a new series of The French Chef, but in colour.

Thien uses these elements of design in the juxtaposition of the narrator’s past harmony with her family being played out side by side with her more distant present. Thien also uses the repetition of certain elements such as the fish in order to accurately portray the breaking up of a once unified family. To begin, Thien first uses juxtaposition in her placement of the past alongside the present in order to emphasize the interrelationship of these contrasting times while also revealing details about the family’s past that strongly ties in with the overall story…
