While reading the story of “Complicity “ by Julia Barns, I found myself reading several short stories, some of which spoke of love and peoples inability to form a connection, or the connection they desire. The other stories exhibited ideas like touching and smell, in order to express situations in personal detail. In one of the earlier stories details the desire of a young man for a women who is out with her mother for the evening, looking for a male suitor at a local party. Making an immediate impression on a gentlemen from across the room, with a single motion made toward the man asking for a cigarette, it gave him hope of a successful encounter with the women.
