In page 106 Judy says, “I'm not like your father. Your father is a much more patient person. He gets on with things and if things upset him he doesn’t let it show. But that's not the way I am and there's nothing I can do to change that,” in one of her letters to Christopher. As a parent, Judy was always frustrated and flustered with her disabled son. Unlike her husband, Judy was usually always impatient with Christopher. Being a parent prove to be very difficult for Judy. This brought out her impatience to a larger extent. During a visit to the department store, Christopher had thrown a tantrum while he was with Judy. She could not contain Christopher which saddened her and caused a lot of frustration within the family. “I said I couldn’t take it anymore and eventually he (her ex-husband) got really cross and he told me I was being stupid and said I should pull myself together and I hit him,” (Haddon 107) at this point Judy was on edge, raising a disabled child proved to be too much for her.
