Judging In A Good Man Is Hard To Find

Judging is something that is natural to most human beings. I think in some way, shape, or form we have all judged someone based on their looks. This is a problem in the world we live in today. Sometimes we judge others in a positive way or a negative way. If we see a well-dressed man we may not see that he is a con-man because we judge with our eyes. If we see a man that has a hat and glasses on with his hands in his pockets we might assume he is up to no good. People cast all types of judgments upon people based on looks. This is something that a lot of humans fight to not due but cannot seem to help it at times. Judging is so natural to humans but it can put people in difficult situations. Some people are good hearted people and give people the benefit of the doubt based on the way they look. In the story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” the grandmother makes a judgement that put her and her family in a difficult situation. She assumed that the misfit was a good willed person because he looked like a good guy. His white smile and clean cut looks fooled the grandma. If people from the church saw this, they would condemn him because he lost his faith and accepted what the devil had for him. Goodman Brown at the end of the story is living his life in fear. He thinks everyone is evil and does not listen to anybody. He judged them because his faith was lost and he ended up becoming a negative individual. At the beginning of the story he said he was a Christian that had strong faith, and by the end of the story he lost all his faith. A lesson I can learn from Goodman brown is that just because you are going through tough times it does not mean everyone around you is
