You can never Judge a book by it’s cover, and that goes for people too, no matter what they do or say. Until you take the time to understand what’s going on in one's life, you don’t have the entitlement to judge them by their actions, and you don’t know what might be going on in their story. To kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a story about a small town called Maycomb, narrated by a young girl nicknamed Scout. Maycomb is a poor one street town, that consists of racially split, judgemental people. A place where many are looked down upon, just for what’s on the outside. The characters Boo Radley, Mrs. Dubose, and Dolphus Raymond are all misunderstood, but wouldn’t be, if the people of maycomb tried to make an accurate perception of them. …show more content…
Dubose was only a evil women, that has resigned to live out her last days criticizing and afflicting others because of their wrongdoings. She would always find something mean or disrespectful to say, and it really seemed like that's all she did. Mrs. Dubose lived right down the road of scout. She needed everyday assistance from her black caretaker due to her old age. While, Jem would always try continue his journey as a respectful gentlemen, ignoring her hurtful words. Although, the older brother of scout returned one time, destroying Mrs. Dubose's flower patch. All because Mrs. Dubose had disrespected their dad Atticus; Atticus was a fair, respectable lawyer that always was so kind to her. She had spoken poorly of him just because he decided to defend a black man in court. Jem later was forced to read to Mrs. Dubose for a month as a punishment for his actions. Jem learned reading to her, that Mrs. Dubose was trying to get over an addition, to a pain relieving medicine. After Jem finished reading, Mrs. Dubose later died and sent him a flower. In response, Jem threw a fit claiming she wouldn’t let go of him (mentally). Although, Atticus stops him saying she was a good lady, but Jem cuts him off
