The text that they used had three main sections: The Torah (law), Nevim (prophets), Ketuvim (writings)(Hackney, Ryan)(2016.) Judaism is said to be the parent of both Christianity and Islam. Hinduism, unlike Judaism doesn't have one main sacred text that they abide by. Rather, they have thousands of writings, and scripture that they live by. Some of those are: Sruti, and Smtri, Vedas, Brahmins, Upanishads, Aranyakas, the epics, The Code of Manu, and the Puranas. (Hinduism.2016) Hindus believe in an afterlife of reincarnation called "Samsara." This differs greatly from the Jews because they believe in Eternal life with Yahweh in Heaven.
There are more differences than similarities with these two religious groups. One of the only similarities is that they both worshiped something, and devoted their lives to whatever that was. However, it is stated that Hinduism is still practiced in India by several groups: The Shavites, Vaishnatives, and the Shakites, and it also spread to Southeastern Asia, and Indonesia. The final difference of the two religious groups is a pretty big one. The Hindus have a code of conduct, and also practice religious beliefs, but here is the catch: none of this is considered a requirement by their religion! In order to have good karma, and be reincarnated into something better, they don't have to follow the code of conduct, or practice their beliefs. That kind of makes one wonder what you can do to get good karma.
The Jews were most definitely required to follow a code of conduct (the ten commandments, for example), and also practice their beliefs. Not exactly for people to see their good deeds. However, it does show people who they were, and who they were living for. These two religions are starkly different from one another, both having pros and cons to how they operate.
