Judaism is considered to be the first monotheistic religion. It is one of the oldest religions existing today. Like many religions, Judaism began with a patriarch. Around 2,000 BC, Judaism was founded by a man named Abraham who was considered to be the ‘Father of the Jewish people’ whom lived in Mesopotamia. At the time, most people were polytheistic but the Jewish people believed in one God who they referred to as Yahweh. The Jews believed that God made a covenant with Abraham which stated that God would make a great nation out of Abraham and his descendants if they remained faithful to God.
