Juan Pablo, born in Santo Domingo, dreamed of traveling to the US and starting a new life there but his fear of traveling through a yola put his dreams on pause. Due to a set of events he ended up traveling on a yola with his brother. The over packed yola that Juan Pablo was in managed to make it to Puerto Rico. He struggled the first couple of days trying to hide from the Coast Guard but he managed to settle somewhere and started working with the goal to soon have enough money to make it to the US and found his brother. Juan Pablo made it to the US, got married, had kids and even became a legal resident, without obtaining a green card. He started his own business and was living the American Dream. One day one of his friends told him to hold a key for him, shortly after Juan Pablo was detained. He was being charged for selling and possession of drugs as well as being part of a cartel. …show more content…
Juan Pablo was deported because an essential piece of evidence to his case was that he was holding a key that his “friend” had given him to hold but in reality it was the key to the storage where drugs were being
