Jrotc Room Reflection

Improved Essays
Reflecting on the past long, but yet short four years of high school, I cannot help but be exhilarated for the next four to come.
I can remember the first day that I walked into the JROTC room like it was just yesterday, butterflies floating in my stomach, my nerves everywhere with a smile on my face because I knew that is where I belong. As time went I took advantage of the program by joining the Armed Drill team as another cadet. Within one year of hard work and innumerable amount of practice I became a squad leader following up to be the first female commander of the Armed Drill team that Sam Houston High has seen.
With the proficiency that JROTC has taught me, I decided that it was time to seek out my dream by talking to a recruiter. Within a few months I became enlisted into the United States Army.

Berry. Mr. Berry was a retired marine with a teaching degree, he gained while serving. When we had free time in class he would always talk about all the things he did while he was deployed. It amazed me how his whole face lightened up when he would speak on his experiences both the good and the bad. With hopes in already wanting to join the military I can honestly say it was Mr. Berry that I always thought back on that inspired me to actually go through with my goal. Of course with a little push with the help of my parents. My parents weren't necessarily aroused with the idea of me wanting to join the armed forces. It took a lot of time, after seeing how dedicated I was to my goal, especially with joining JROTC and all that I accomplished while in the program they couldn’t help but want me to reach it as much if not more than I did. I am really appreciative of the great people I have been blessed with by galvanizing and helping me on this journey. Without them, I would not be where I am

On October 30th, 2015, Marc and I were assigned in the ERCP room. When we started the first case, he made a comment that if he knew he was going to be in ERCP that morning, he would not come to work, because he hates working in ERCP for its uncomfortably hot setting etc... I then tried to change the conversation to a more positive discussion by telling him I did ask Mandy to assign me to work with him instead of Leanne since I am in the process of relearning some of the skills and I will not be able to teach Leanne about ERCP. He stated, “Well, Mandy will have to work by herself tomorrow, I was going to do call with her.” When I brought the second patient, I realized she was booked for a diagnostic ERCP, so I asked Marc if I could assist Dr. Lutzak and if I needed…
