One of the greatest achievements in the out nation was the creation of the JROTC program. JROTC has been around for a hundred years and many things have changed. Some changes may be small while others are large. Although JROTC has been around for 100 years it has had a long past, a productive present, and a future that many can look forward to. History, at times, can be the most important thing to remember about something. JROTC has had an interesting history. It first began in 1916 when congress passed an act called The National Defense Act (cadetcommand.army.mil/jrotc-history.aspx). Due to this act being created schools were allowed to loan army equipment so that the JROTC can have the correctly leaders and equipment for it (cadetcommand.army.mil/jrotc-history.aspx). …show more content…
JROTC has always focused on teaching young people citizenship/ be better citizens. Its goals have also been the same since the begging. Some of the goals JROTC have are to “Act with integrity and personal accountability as they lead others to succeed in a diverse and global work force” (http://www.usarmyjrotc.com/jrotc-program/jrotc-program-information). JROTC does have more goals but many believe that today, even before, that it was used to get people to enlist but it really isn’t. JROTC is now in most High schools because of how well it teaches its cadets and that it teaches things we need for our lives. In the categories of Attendance, Graduation, In-Discipline, Drop-Out, and GPA JROTC greatly improves when a student joins JROTC (http://www.usarmyjrotc.com/jrotc-program/jrotc-program-information). JROTC’s future seems bright due to its goals and success. The future may be bright but some programs were cut. There are a couple areas that had their JROTC program cut due to budgets in school (http://captalk.net/index.php?topic=18084.0). Although some were cut there are still many programs out there. As time goes on more will most likely join due to the popularity of JROTC increasing as the years go by. More people in society may also care more about their society in a couple years due to its popularity. One of the greatest factors JROTC affects for the future is leadership. In the future we will have many more people who know how to lead properly. SO really the future of JROTC can lead to a better society and a better youth. In conclusion JROTC has had a great history, a powerful present, a bright future that will still continue to burn in improving our society in citizenship and
