Thank you for your questions. As I mentioned, companies expect their employee’s loyalty and dedication for their job. Additionally, the company also expects their employees to follow their core values, including honesty, helping others, making the right decisions, reliability, positive attitude, team leadership and more. “When values are out of alignment, people work towards different goals, with different intentions, and with different outcomes. This can damage work relationships, productivity, job satisfaction, and creative potential.”…

College to Career: A recent survey commissioned by Bentley University in 2014 found that “compared with business decision-makers and corporate recruiters, high school and college students were far less likely to define preparedness in terms of personal traits or work ethic” (Chase, 2015). This means skills and experience rank high for college students when they evaluate preparedness. Unfortunately, the same survey found “thirty-seven percent of recent college graduates give themselves a grade of “C” or lower on their individual level of preparedness” (Chase, 2015).…

Intern Nation by author Ross Perlin analyzes the current state of internships in astoundingly immensedetail. In specific, Perlin focuses on the variety of internships, including “the good, the bad, and the ugly; the paid and the unpaid; the ostensibly academic and the completely untethered; part-time internships lasting a few weeks and full-time ones last a year” (XVI). These elements are described through first-hand accounts; for example, the interns at Disney World and the government interns on Capitol Hills. These elements are also described through in-depth investigation; for example, the 18 percent of interns who work without pay or the evidence of companies and government organizations firing full-time paid staff and replacing them with…

Hearing stories from friends and teachers about how impactful the Youth Team program is, — enabling youth to garner skills in leadership and financial literacy, while giving back to the community — has immensely piqued my interest. I believe my sanguine outlook, assiduity, and exceptional teamwork skills will qualify me as beneficial addition to the Coast Capital Youth Team.…

I’ve been shown with this experience how important it is for me to keep working at my people skill, that my ability to efficiently communicate is the bases for success with a sales job like selling flooring or lighting fixtures. This internship has helped me grow as a person and gain confidence. My favorite part of my internship was when Cozette and I were working with a client on a new construction job. The client brought in a completed floor plan, and came to select finishes and cabinetry. As we were walking through the floor plan we discussed the layouts of the bathrooms and kitchen.…

I am writing to you today to inform you about my experience at the Sothern New Hampshire University Internship Fair held on campus on Wednesday February 17th, 2016. I intend to talk about my overall experience, what I noticed/ learned while there, as well as how the Internship Fair helped to further develop my articulation of the SNHU Business Competency, Professional Communication as well as my overall professionalism in a competitive business environment. First off, I wanted to inform you that I chose this experience due to the fact that I personally felt as though it would better enhance my articulation of the school of business outcomes, as well as further to enhance my professionalism in a competitive business environment more so than just having a meeting with a Career Development Center staff member. Prior to this event you asked that I attend, interact and then report back to you my overall experience. I attended the event, dressed professionally, with ten copies…

I wanted to be more versatile in the agency by assisting other departments. Coincidentally, as I was talking to my supervisor, he said, “this internship is a two way street; you are here to help us and we are here to help you, so if you would like to experience another unit, do not be afraid to tell me.” I felt such relief because I immediately told him that I wanted to sit in on intake with the investigator, and to be a part of mediation: process to settlement. I got the opportunity to sit in on intake on my third day in the office. I was excited that I got to experience this because it was the most interesting part of my internship; being able to not only sit in on intake, but to ask the clients questions about their charge.…

I yearned to view the world in a different perspective. I aim far beyond just experiencing the world first hand, seeing it through multiple lenses, and watching how it runs in the background. In fact, what I desire is to see where I must stand to give my maximum contribution to the global industry and multicultural understanding--a purpose I know I must serve. And this was what drove me to fly 8,500 miles from the Pearl of the Orient to the Land of the Free.…

In the beginning of the semester, I would admit I was nervous to start my internship with the Divisional Clerks office. Before these past few months, I had only set-foot in a courthouse once or twice in my life for past tickets. Ever since I was eight years old, I have always wanted to be a lawyer. Growing up I enjoyed watching the television show; Law and Order Special Victims Unit, with my grandfather every day after school. When we would sit and watch the show together, my grandfather would tell me all the time “You would make a great lawyer Joe.”…
