Prior to being enrolled in this class, I had never heard of SMART Goals before. After watching the video, I sat at my desk and thought about setting a good goal for me. I have to admit, I have never been good at setting goals for myself. It might be because I don’t like to set myself up for failure, or that I tend to stick with things that come easy to me. After multiple attempts of filling out the SMART Goals Worksheet, I decided that I would set a goal that could further my career in law enforcement.…

I believe all applicants that have used any illegal narcotics, or sold any illegal drugs should be automatically disqualified from gaining employment as law enforcement. No one that wants to be superior to others or authority should do anything illegal. If they have committed any type of crime they shouldn’t be granted the privilege of arresting or restraining other criminals, who could have potentially been their parent in crime and/or drug use. They shouldn’t be trusted, they could easily take drugs or money into their possession and use it for unlawful reasons. Anyone in the law enforcement career field should lead by example, and be someone with self-control.…

Discussion #1 There are many different learning expectations to have when taking the Intro to Criminal Justice course. The first personal learning expectation I hope to achieve is how the justice department works because it does become quite confusing in certain areas. There are some people who may see the rules of the criminal justice system as flawed and would like to know just exactly how it indeed works in day to day life. The reason I would like to know about this learning expectation is because I do plan to become some type of teacher in the education system, and teaching younger generations about how our justice system works would come in handy as I would then know exactly how it works due to this class.…

Criminal Justice is a social science where people study crimes, criminals, and the criminal justice system, as well as attempt to identify and explain criminal behaviors. Majoring in criminal justice requires you to take classes such as psychology, sociology, political science, philosophy, and forensic science. Although I am not a huge fan of science, forensic science sounds interesting and reminds me of what the characters on CSI: Miami do, which makes this requirement more appealing to me. At Southwestern College, the classes that you are required to take if you are majoring in Criminal Justice are Introduction to Administration of Justice, Concepts of Criminal Law, Juvenile Law and Procedures, Legal Aspects of Evidence, a few sociology and…
