Journey Of Discernment Research Paper

My journey of discernment has been a ten year long journey. As a child, I always found myself questing faith and the traditions of Lutheranism as a way to dive deeper into understanding the Bible and Lutheranism. As I have matured, I have continued to discern my call through my various experiences that have been fostered by the Lutheran Church. All of these experiences have helped to foster inside of myself the call to serve the ELCA. Through these past ten years, I have felt we as a church need to continue moving forward, and adapting to the changing face of American identity. As millennials, we are wanting a church that is serving and being more active in breaking down injustices, and we are in need of leaders in this church that are willing not only to challenge and push the church. I feel as though I have been called to serve the church because we need to continue to have change agents in the church. As Lutherans, we have to continue to reform the church, and to continue to follow the ministry of Jesus. I have definitely seen the need to continue to be in touch with our Protestant roots of being reformers of the church and to push complacency in the church. We were birthed out of the reformation and challenge the order of the church, and I have felt called to be a person that will continue to challenge the church, and force it not to be complacence in the injustices in the world.
