Journal Entries Research Paper

Writing journal entries helped me connect the past with the present and I was able to take the extra step to make every thought meaningful. Among having so much work to do and being busy every second along with constant anxiety and stress, I do not have time to stop and think. These journal entries help me think and debrief myself and I think the entries definitely benefited in class discussions. When we do not do journal entries before discussing I have noticed that our conversations are less thought out and are answers are not profound. When we do our journal entries are conversations have tended to be continuous and open. The journal entry I believe that was the most meaningful entry would be the last two we had. There is a black women leading the picture. At this time period, it is not often that an African American women would be portrayed as a leader. This is wrong. This picture although looks like it could be women protesting together, it actually represents a time where a young African-American girl is surrounded by a hateful crowd of angry white people. This includes a girl caught mid-jeer, her teeth bared and her face hardened with anger. This is a huge symbol of the bigotry of Jim Crow and the intolerance faced by the blacks who tried to live their lives peacefully. In this entry, I really put myself in place if I was the African American women being verbally attacked and publicly humiliated by people because of what I looked like, I hate to admit this but I would definitely cry and not stand tall. And yet this woman seems not to be fazed at all by this situation. Although this African American woman and all, in general, are being beaten down, in the long run, they will be the strongest while the bigots will rot in hell. My ideas and beliefs and everything I was thinking just flamed out onto paper. I did not write a new entry on my own time but I definitely added to
