Purpose of the study
The purpose of the study to investigate whether resting frontal asymmetry is associated with trait positive urgency, with respect to the behavioral approach system (BAS) and behavioral inhibition system (BIS).
Hypothesis (es)
The authors of the study hypothesized that trait positive urgency will be linked with a growth in corresponding left frontal activity, in contrast to right frontal activity. The authors also hypothesized …show more content…
The aim of the trait positive urgency is to describe uncontrollable behavior when exhibiting a positive attitude and this is calculated over 14 items. As for for the BIS/BAS scale, there is an inclusion of three subscales of BAS and just one scale of BIS. Both of these are evaluated over 20 items. In specificity, BIS is evaluated over 7 items and is relevant to replies in expectation of receiving some kind of discipline. As for the three subscales of BAS, the BAS reward responsiveness is evaluated over 5 items that calculate the response to the expectation of some kind of discipline. As for the BAS-drive, it is evaluated through seeing an incessant amount of desire to seek for the objective in mind and it is done over 4 items. And lastly the BAS fun-seeking consist of 4 items demonstrating a motive for current reward as well as an inclination to take action in obtaining possible rewards. The EEG was documented utilizing a stretch lycra cap containing 64 mounted tin electrodes. Additionally, an average low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (sLORETA) was used to calculate the intracerebral electrical materials that produced the recurrences of alpha band …show more content…
Additionally participants with an elevated left-frontal activity at starting point revealed an increase in trait positive urgency. As for the assessment for the relationship between BIS/BAS and frontal activity, results showed that the frontal asymmetry indicator was not linked with BIS, β=0.10 (-0.08, 0.28], t(119)=1.10, p=0.27. Additionally it was found that frontal asymmetry was not linked with BAS either, β= -0.08 9-.026,0.10], t(118)= -0.88, p=0.38. When directing for BIS, positive urgency stayed a modest indicator of left-frontal activity, β=0.27 [0.10, 0.45], t(118)=3.11, p=0.002, or BAS, β=0.26 [0.09,0.44], t(117)=2.96,
