Josh Sundquist's Just Don T Fall

Decent Essays
In Josh Sundquist’s book Just Don't Fall he covers many aspects of the average human and the way we go about things. One aspect that I like is he really strives to show the drive, and the urge to never give up no matter what circumstances you are presented with. After reading this book I really decided to rethink many aspects of my own life and questioned how determined am I to actually do stuff. One way I plan to apply this to my own life is by putting all my effort into something if i'm going to even bother with it in the first place. What I mean is I don't wanna half ass it if my names going to be on the paper. I want it fully done, and to the best of my ability. Josh shows this determination in his book by going out and deciding he wants to ski after he had been amputated. That in itself shows so much courage and determination. …show more content…
Lately I have overwhelmed myself with work and school work, and it’s beginning to take a toll on how I act and my eating, and sleeping schedule. Overall it’s not healthy and I need to make a change so I can have enough time and energy to achieve the goals that I set for myself. For example When Josh was going through all that stuff with the cancer he had free time outside of the hospital, and that was really when he was able to practice. His work ethic just really influenced me and how I am going to start to go about things in my everyday

Every single day there are many decisions that need to be made. Choices that can be as little as wake up time and some that are as big as choosing which college to attend. Most people grow up making decisions based upon their own happiness or because they want to follow in the steps of one of their role models. I didn’t have any role models or someone that I wanted to strive to become. Because I didn't want to base my entire life on someone else’s, I had to learn about what drives a person and what makes someone motivated to do common, everyday tasks.…

Yesterday, I had to come home at seven from a late band rehearsal, take a shower, and finish a multitude of class assignments. By the time I was done, it was eleven o’clock. I could barely fit in time for a good night’s rest, so attempting to watch videos on Youtube for a little while was out of the question. The list of things I have to do in a day is so extensive that even eating dinner has to be delayed until later if I want to be done with my duties before a certain time. A couple of days ago my friend asked me to come outside to play basketball at noon.…

At the same time I feel as if my school work load is so high I can never get ahead or feel on top of all my responsibilities in life. My first semester of graduate school had been rough, but I made it through and was very proud I had. However, throughout my first semester I had deeply cut my social relationship time with my partner and my friends, stopped going to the gym entirely, and lost the majority of my weekends to educational reading and assignments. I learned I needed to prepare and organize my time even more efficiently than I already did. For the second semester I sat down with my partner and planned out every single week from the food we were going to eat, events we were going to attend, dates we were going to go on, and workouts we were going to take part in.…
