Hello, it is me Josephine Baker not many people knew but my real name was Frida Josephine McDonald. I was born on June 3rd 1906 in St. Louis, Missouri. Most people in the 1900 always think that you had to be born into wealth and fame, but not me. My family was very poor so I had to work for my own money. I babysat for the wealthy and waited on them. With having to always work for my money it made me independent and I did not need to rely on anyone to take care of me. I ran away when I was 13 leaving my mother and her new husband. I learned how to dance when I was younger and found myself at broadway and I was succeeding and I loved it.

But there is only one I always told people about and that was The Great Gatsby’s party. I was traveling by myself and I got a letter saying that a man named Mr. Gatsby was having a party and his performer had come down with the flu and he would like me to perform since I was in the area. I had heard of this Mr. Gatsby and his parties before and I knew that this was something I could just not miss out on. And I was right.
I got the pleasure of meeting some very interesting people at Mr. Jay Gatsby’s party. When I arrived early to get myself together before I performed I meet one of Mr. Gatsby’s bootlegger friends, Henry Ford. He was quite the man he spoke to me with class almost as much as Jay Gatsby. This man Henry Ford talked about his business like it was his baby. He was the founder of Ford Motor Company and he made sure I and everyone around me knew it.
Now during the party I had another man come introduce himself and he went by the name of Charlie Chaplin. If I must say so myself Charlie was quite the flirt, always complimenting me on how amazing my performance was. It all clicked though when he was telling me about his job. Charlie was filmmaker and an actor himself, we had so much in common it was great we talk for most of the night until I saw someone that I had to introduce myself
