Reading the article helped me understand how advertisers profile its audience to sell a product. The author, Joseph Turow, explains the strategies advertisers employ such as customizing media content, using digital tracking tools to manipulate what consumers see and hear. This control of media content may influence the social status of the targeted individuals by dividing people into two targets: reputable and less desirable ones. The question asked in the prompt consists of two parts. The first part asks about how advertisers influence its audience while the second part queries what people need to know about advertisers to be well-informed customers. In the article, the author discusses deeply both sections of the prompt.
