John Joseph Travolta was born on February 18, 1954 in Englewood, New Jersey. Travolta was born as the youngest of six including three boys and three girls. John's’ dad (Salvatore Travolta) was a semi-professional football player and his mom (Helen Cecilia) is an actress that started in The Sunshine Sisters before she became a drama and english teacher. John’s brothers (Sam and Joey Travolta) have both acted, also his sisters (Ellen and Margaret Travolta) have also acted. John dropped out of Dwight Morrow High School, in New Jersey, his junior year to pursue his acting career.
After dropping out of his high school, John moved across the Hudson River to New York and landed a role in the touring company of the musical ‘Grease’ and on ‘Broadway

After moving, Travolta found a little career in singing. Johns hit single ‘Let her in’ reached top ten in the top 100 songs of the month. Travolta also performed many songs from the movie “Grease”, there soundtracks. Many people liked his singing and he was again nominated for many awards. In the 1970s John Travolta claimed stardom, he appeared on Saturday and Sunday night shows and he was winning awards for his acting in ‘Saturday Night Fever.’ At the age of 24 Travolta became one of the youngest performers ever nominated for best actor Oscar. John later starred in urban cowboy which was a hit movie. But it also determines his downfall. Travolta at the young age of 24 starred in a series of financial aid and critical failures that sidelined his acting career. during the time of Travolta's downfall he turned down many offers in big movies including American Gigolo and An Officer and a Gentleman. In 1989 Travolta was on a mission of resurgence. it's net worth nearly grew to 297,000,000 and he continued into two sequels in which he received an Academy award nomination. this in many people’s …show more content…
being young in 1977 Travolta was in a relationship with actress Diana Hylande whom he met while filming the “Boy in the Plastic Bowl.” As he later found out she had died of breast cancer two years after dating him, knowing there was no cure at the time. John was very saddened at this time and as he was so sad he met a new girl 13 years later named Kelly Preston in 1991, she made him feel better. Kelly seems to be the one for John as he is still married today and HAD two children Jett and Ella Travolta in the present year of 2017. Tragedy struck the family when their son just died on January 2, 2009 while on a family vacation in the Bahamas. Supposedly he died a of a seizure but there are many conspiracy theories for different reasons why Jett Travolta died. After his son's death John Travolta went to Florida and he would not leave Florida until he was okay with himself or until he felt he would be fine to continue his acting career. His good friend James Gandolfini stuck with John this whole time. He also wouldn't leave Florida until John was good enough to do things on his own. Travolta told him many times you can go home we have a lot of support here. Gandolfini refused many times being the good friend he is. This all led to John getting into Scientology.
