The Pulitzer prize is a serie of prizes awarded each year regarding someone who accomplished an excellent work in one of the 21 categories such as journalism, arts, literature, newspaper, drama, music, photography. The winner in the Public Service category of the Journalism is the only one who is awarded a golden medal while the winners in the other 20 categories are $10,000 cash and a certificate. The Pulitzer prize was created in 1914 but it was established in 1917. In 1904, Joseph Pulitzer gave $2,000,000 to Columbia University in New York to establish a school of journalism and for the awarded prizes. He specified "four awards in journalism, four in letters and drama, one in education, and four traveling scholarships."
