One of the songs I listened to, that was composed by Joseph Haydn was, symphony No. 78 in C-Minor. This song has all orchestra in it. It is in Minor only, and it has disumendos and crescendos. Also it has accents and uses adagio. This piece uses from pp-ff. I like this piece, it is very serious and seems like it would be fun to play. I like how it goes from soft to loud and loud to soft. It is very mysterious and I like that about it.
Another song that I listened to by Joseph Haydn was called String quartet OP. No.1. This piece is in major and minor. It also, has disumendos and crescendos. It uses allegro. This piece is a very soft and loud peice, it uses p-f and it is very dramatic. I think this piece could possibly be played at a funeral or in like a church service. I like this piece because it is very just calming and sad. It would probably give me goosebumps if I could play this song. It is very

Though I am not a huge fan of symphony like music, I am a fan of movies. One of my all-time favorite movies would be We Were Soldiers, starring Mel Gibson. This movie is based on the book We Were Soldiers Once…and Young by Lt. Colonel Harold G. Moore. Both the book and movie are based around the first battle of the Vietnam War and depicts the soldiers, and battle, from both the Americans and Vietnamese point of view. I chose this movie because war movies are usually full of suspense, and coincidentally have great music to build the audiences suspense throughout.…

Ever since entering Dr. Berdahl’s chamber music class, I have grown more found with working with other instruments from outside of my comfort zone. I really like the idea of sight reading and being able to accompany other instruments to create wonderful music together. This semester I would like to recommend just two pieces of music for Chamber ensemble from the same composer, to focus on working together and learning the appropriate style. Franz Schubert, January 31, 1797 - November 19, 1828, was brought into a world where music was changing rapidly. Baroque music slowly drifted away around the year 1750 and now the Classical Era was greatly being more favored by the main public.…

This piece has “characteristics of classic sonata form, and is similar in energy and length to such concert overtures as Shostakovich’s Festival Overture.” As with a typical sonata form, the piece is broken down into five main sections. The first introductory section features the opening horn fanfare and a full ensemble crescendo into the exposition. Starting at measure four, the first theme is articulated with tutti figures thru many different instruments. Immediately following that in measure twelve, we hear the inversion of that melody in the clarinets and alto saxophone. The inversion is then repeated in the upper woodwinds and in the cornet.…

The structure of this piece is structured ABAB. The purpose of this composition of a whole was to be used at a funeral for the composer’s friend, Alessandro Manzoni. After this performance, it was not performed in a church again but only in concert halls. The purpose of the concert I attended was to entertain the audience with a story of the music. The melody was played by the musical instruments in this piece and it remained quite constant, only changing in dynamics with the rest of the ensemble.…

The melody of this song was very slow and very relaxing to listen to. This piece was homophonic because the choir was accompanied by the violin. The music that I have chosen is D major Violin Concerto No.1, Op.6, composed by Niccolò Paganini. To gain a more complete understanding of the composition, first we need to check the background information of the composer. Paganini was an Italian violinist, violist, guitarist, and composer. [iii] That explains why the composition mainly uses violin throughout the whole composition. It was also noted that was one of the most famous classical music composers on the romantic era.…
