Joseph Caiaphas is known as the high priest of the temple in Jerusalem from 18 to 37 A.D. He was also the Jewish high priest and the chairman of the high court. Caiaphas played a key role in Jesus’ trial and execution. Caiaphas wanted to get rid of Jesus to defend the Mosaic Law and Jewish beliefs. The Jewish people saw Caiaphas as the one who saved Israel from a false prophet named Jesus. However, the Christians saw Caiaphas as the one who plotted to kill Jesus.
