Josef Mengele Josef Mengele was a doctor in World War II at Auschwitz concentration camp. Josef was known for his grotesque experiments on children and fetish for twins. When the would see twins off the transport train he would get excited. Parents would even willingly give Mengele their children not knowing what horrific things he would do to them. One of his favorite experiments, was to try and sew them together like he’d seen in an operation. This operation had two gypsy twins sewn together to make Siamese twins. Mengele would also examine his twins a few weeks before his experiments to make sure they were healthy.
Mengele’s escape is one of the mysterious ones. He fled to Argentina, and spent his life on the run. While in South America Mengele had kept a journal and talked all about his time in South America. He had drawings, written poems, but nothing about his experiments in Auschwitz. Mengele’s journal sold to a Jewish buyer for 185,000 Euros.
