Josef Mengele Research Paper

Josef Mengele was born in Gunzburg, Germany on March 16, 1911 and he was the oldest of three sons which were named Karl and Alois. Mengele’s nickname growing up was Beppo which could be another way of spelling Josef. Mengele was often complimented by his teachers for having great intelligence and behavior in the classroom. He grew up wanting to someday have a career in science and anthropology. In 1930 Mengele graduated from Gunzburg and and passed his college exam well enough to be accepted into Munich, Bavaria. His parents were Karl Mengele and Walburga Mengele, and he was raised in a well off family. His father, Karl Mengele, was an agricultural manufacturer who owned his own company called Frima Karl Mengele and Schnei Farming Machinery Factory, which Mengele’s father wanted him to take over the company, but Josef Mengele had other plans. He excelled all throughout his schooldays and his father wanted him to work in the family business, but he chose to focus on a doctorate career. Although, his medical career was cut short, and he became a soldier during World War II, he was sent to Auschwitz when he was injured in the war and resumed his medical career. Josef Mengele was married for a short time from 1939-1949 to Irene Schoenbein and had one kid named Rolf Mengele. Mengele divorced Irene to marry Martha, the widow to his brother Karl. By doing this he would take Karl’s share of his father’s company. Mengele was also considered a war hero for being wounded and for his bravery fighting the Soviets, he won the awards of Iron Cross Second Class, Iron Cross First Class for saving two German soldiers from a burning tank, and a Merit Badge for being injured in
