We begin with my mother her name was Maria Estela Santoyo. She was born on July 20, 1942 in Juarez, Mexico. She was the oldest of six siblings to a poor family. Her father was a business man and her mother was a homemaker. She started working at a very young age and was not able to finish elementary. She was raised in a strict catholic house hold. She came to the United States when she turned 30 to help her family financially. She came to the US in 1970 and began working as a maid. In 1972, she met my father Lorenzo Reyes Rosales, in Hollywood California. They met at my mother’s place of employment in North Hollywood. My mother and father married in 1972, she was 30 and my father, was 21. They married despite the advice of my father’s family, since my mother was nine years older. …show more content…
Shortly after marrying, they had their first child a boy, he was born on February 25, 1976 his name is Jose Rosales. After the birth of her first child, my mother developed hypertension. Her hypertension was cause of severe headaches. In addition to her hypertension, headaches, she developed severe allergies with anxiety. In 1978 she had a girl, she was born on January 12, 1978 and her name is Leticia Rosales and finally they had me, I was born on January 18, 1979. My mother raised us to be catholic and we even attended a catholic school. She raised the boy to work with my parent in making money for the family. My sister and I were to work in the house and study. My mother strongly encourages us to go to school. My mother was determined to keep our family together despite the conflict between my father and his family. In addition, my father and mother were in constant conflict. My mother seem to always want to control my father, she had to know where he was at all times. They divorced late in life when my mother was in her 60’s. My mother, passed away suddenly on January 1, 2013 of a massive stroke she was
