Jose Burciaga vs. Sandra Cisneros
The Hispanic Culture is one of the most colorful and respected cultures of the world. Hispanic families still keep some old traditions. For example “el machismo” still is present in many families. Other traditions that came over centuries. Burciaga and Cisneros present some examples in their stories of how the culture has changed over the years, and what others are still intact and continue generation-to-generation. The story by Sandra Cisneros “Only Daughter” is about her life. Sandra was the only girl in her family, and she had six brothers in a Mexican family. He father was Mexican and her mother was Mexican-American. Her family was the typical Mexican family and her father was the only one in the house who made decisions. The main idea of Sandra father’s was that the only goal of Sandra was to find a husband, but Sandra had other goal for her life. It was about the traditional tortillas and how this food influences our culture and helps us to continue. When Burciaga was growing up, the tortilla was part of his daily life. He was always with his mother in the Mercado of Ciudad Juarez. He saw the tortilla factory and the whole production of tortillas that came out every day. Burciaga was not impressed about all the tortillas that the factory made, because he said “Watching them at work convinced me that the most handsome and deliciosas tortillas are handmade” (Jose Burciaga paragraph 4). The tortilla is something really important in our culture and like Burciaga said “The versatility of tortillas and corn not end here” this food continue in our culture generation-to-generation, is a traditional food that come over centuries and still in the culture
